In the fight against crappy jobs I have definitely been on the losing side. I think if I were to go back and do it again I would never work in retail or call centres. If I ever have children I will strongly discourage this as well. I will tell them to get work or volunteer in a field they are interested in or for cause. I am now closer to 40 than 30 and finally realizing if I want the career I dreamed of I am going to have to build it myself. I can no longer trust my financial future to employers or managers who can change my life at whim. There may be laws in place to protect employees but when it all boils down it is your word against theirs .. and they’ve been promoted so someone at some point had faith in them not you. This may sound negative but it’s the reality check I needed. It’s time for me to start my own business. I understand it will take time to build and that I have a huge learning curve when it comes to getting traffic and sales but hey a girls gotta start somewhere.
